When to Clean Your Gutters and Why

A gutter system, when serviced regularly, will effectively prevent and protect any possible water damage to your home. A working gutter system is a key component in preventing costly expenses due to failing or overflow. We know cleaning is important but what most people don't know is when to clean them. It strongly depends on the location of your home, but on average a gutter system needs to be thoroughly cleaned twice a year. What month in which the gutters are cleaned is very important, cleaning at wrong times and before peak seasons can leave you defenseless against damages to your home.

What is a peak season in reference to gutter cleaning? Good question. There are two seasons we see the most downfall of debris that clog up the gutter systems. Those seasons include the spring and the fall, and in Raleigh, the pollen and falling leaves are especially bad. The spring season brings pollen blooms and buds that find their way into your gutters, which can disable the gutter to perform properly. During the fall, gutters are loaded with falling leaves and debris even more so than after the spring. If your gutters are not serviced shortly after the end of the peak seasons, a gutter system failure is very likely.

Cleaning at the start of either of these seasons will result in more money spent that could be saved with the right company keeping up with when to clean.
